KARL KRÜGER part 2.

Exploring the Arctic Wild: An Evening with Karl

Welcome to our Speaker Series! We are excited to announce our next speaker, the incredible Karl, a determined, strong stand up paddler.

Meet Karl:

A seasoned Captain, accomplished athlete, successful business owner, and dedicated President of a non-profit, Karl has dedicated his life to pushing boundaries and exploring the unknown. One of his most remarkable achievements came in 2017 when he became the first and only person to paddle the full 1200 km (750-mile) race course of the Race to Alaska (R2AK) on a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP), completing this hard race in just 14 days and 6 hours.

But Karl’s thirst for adventure didn’t end there. In August of 2023, he embarked on his second leg of Paddling the Northwest Passage, a journey that would take him through some of the most remote and awe-inspiring landscapes on Earth. Paddling solo and unsupported from Paulatuk, Northwest Territories to Kugluktuk, Nunavut, Karl encountered a world few have experienced firsthand.

Imagine walrus circling your board, bears wandering through your campsite, and days-long lightning storms chasing you down the coast. Karl’s 800 km odyssey along Canada’s Northern Coastline was not just a physical challenge but a deeply immersive experience in the wonders and challenges of the Arctic wilderness.

What makes Karl’s journey even more interesting is his interaction with the indigenous Inuit communities along his route. He shared stories, meals, and moments with Inuit families and hunters at fish camps, gaining insights into their way of life and the profound changes happening in the Arctic due to climate change.
